Ingredients

Pretzel rod coating
  • 12 pretzel rods Use crunchy, straight pretzel rods so they dip evenly.
  • 12 oz white melting chocolate Melting chocolate is the key for smooth dipping and a clean set.
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil Optional—helps thin the chocolate for a smoother coating.
  • 3 tbsp red, white, and blue sprinkles Adds color right after dipping.
  • 2 tbsp patriotic star sprinkles Use on top for a festive star look.

Method

Prep the tray
  1. Line a baking sheet or tray with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easy.
Melt and thin the chocolate
  1. Melt the white melting chocolate according to package directions until smooth and pourable.
  2. Stir in coconut oil if needed, mixing until the coating looks glossy and fluid enough to dip easily.
Dip and decorate
  1. Dip each pretzel rod about two-thirds into the melted chocolate, coating the lower portion evenly.
  2. Allow excess chocolate to drip off for 2 to 3 seconds so the coating stays thick and doesn’t pool.
  3. Immediately sprinkle with patriotic sprinkles so they adhere before the chocolate sets.
  4. Place the dipped pretzel rods onto the prepared tray, spaced apart for even setting.
Set
  1. Let set completely at room temperature, about 30 to 45 minutes, until firm to the touch.
  2. Alternatively, refrigerate for 15 minutes until the chocolate is fully set and crisp.
Serve
  1. Serve the pretzel rods once set.

Notes

Pro tip: Work in small batches and sprinkle right after dipping so the decorations stick before the chocolate hardens. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Refrigerate up to 5 days for best texture. Freezing is not recommended because sprinkles may lose their look after thawing. Dietary swap: use dairy-free white melting chocolate if you need a dairy-free version.
